Issues

Education: Enhancing and expanding current local schools and new school construction to reduce overcrowding is Marty’s main focus in the area of education. He is dedicated to making education more user-friendly for students, parents and teachers, regularly meets with Parent Teacher Association’s and hosts Education Town Hall meetings.

Taxes: Marty helped cut the state sales tax on gasoline by 4 cents per gallon, voted to provide millions of dollars in property tax relief, and voted to end the state sales tax on clothing over $100. He wants to continue cutting the tax burden for middle class New Yorkers wherever possible.

Crime: Civil confinement of violent sexual predators is the most important issue facing New York in the next few years. Marty Golden will continue to aggressively fight to get this legislation signed into law, so we can protect women and children. As a former Police Officer, he knows how important it is to keep our communities safe.

Seniors: As Chairman of the Senate Aging Committee, Marty wants to promote a lifestyle of independence, dignity and choice for New York’s seniors. Marty wants to lower prescription drug prices by allowing NYS to make bulk purchases of drugs — just like items sold at Costco — using private funds from pharmacies, and making those lower cost drugs available to seniors through their local pharmacies.
